Graniti, 1700 inhabitants, a village of the Alcantara Valley is about 20 minutes drive away from mundane Taormina and 10 minutes from the beaches of Giardini Naxos. Mount Etna, Syracuse, Catania and the eolian islands are within easy day trip reach. A rental car is advisable as public transport is not very efficient.

Graniti is an authentic rural sicilian village, away from the busy confusion of the sea side places like Taormina and Giardini Naxos. It is surrounded by hills covered with pine trees, olive trees and sicilian macchia (aromatic herbs). During the cooler months of winter and spring, it is ideal as a starting point for hiking and mountainbiking. The locals are very friendly and living is "slow" ... allowing time and leisure while having a Cappucino or a Granita at the local bar..

The village has a grocery shop, bakery, butcher, pizzeria, a few bars, a post office, a pharmacy and a gas station. Excellent restaurants for fish, sicilian specialities and local meats are all located close by.
